Terms of Service
Last updated: April 29, 2026
These Terms govern your use of RiftRec, including the Windows desktop application, riftrec.app, review.riftrec.app, and related services. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use RiftRec.
1. What RiftRec Is
RiftRec is a Windows application for recording and reviewing League of Legends gameplay. The desktop app can detect a League of Legends game window, record gameplay, save videos locally, collect gameplay review metadata, and optionally upload videos and metadata to RiftRec Review when you choose to use online review features.
RiftRec is not endorsed by Riot Games. League of Legends and Riot Games are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.
2. Account and Eligibility
You may use local recording features without an account. Online features such as uploads, sharing, friends, groups, and review rooms may require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
You must be legally allowed to use this service in your country and must be old enough to consent to these Terms or have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. What riftrec.exe Does
The desktop app is designed to be transparent and limited to recording and review workflows. Depending on your settings and features used, it may:
- Detect whether League of Legends or supported game windows are running.
- Record video and audio from your selected capture source.
- Store recordings and related metadata on your computer.
- Track clicks and mouse movement during recording for replay analysis, when enabled.
- Read locally available League client or match data needed for match history, KDA, items, champion, timeline, and review features.
- Upload videos and associated review metadata to RiftRec servers only when you choose to upload or enable an upload feature.
RiftRec does not intentionally inject code into League of Legends, modify game files, bypass anti-cheat, automate gameplay, or play the game for you.
4. Local Files and Online Uploads
Recordings are saved on your computer unless you upload them. RiftRec may create small sidecar metadata files next to or inside a hidden metadata folder for a recording. These files can include match stats, KDA events, click positions, timeline data, and review information used by the app.
If you upload a video to Review, the server stores the video, basic clip information, and uploaded metadata so the review player can show champion, items, KDA, teams, notes, drawings, clicks, and live review state. Uploaded content may be visible to people you share it with, friends or groups you allow, or participants in a review room.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use RiftRec to:
- Upload illegal, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, or infringing content.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, or dox another person.
- Attempt to access another user's account, private videos, rooms, or data without permission.
- Interfere with, overload, scan, scrape, reverse engineer, or attack RiftRec systems.
- Use RiftRec to cheat in games or violate Riot Games' rules.
We may remove content, restrict uploads, suspend accounts, or report serious abuse when necessary.
6. Your Content
You keep ownership of your gameplay videos and uploaded content. By uploading content, you grant RiftRec permission to store, process, transcode, stream, display, and share that content as needed to provide the Review service and features you request.
You are responsible for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to upload and share content. If you delete a clip or account, we will remove or anonymize associated data according to our Privacy Policy and operational backups.
7. Storage Limits and Service Changes
RiftRec may enforce per-file, account, daily upload, bandwidth, or storage limits to keep the service stable. We may change, pause, or discontinue features as the product evolves.
At the time of this update, RiftRec's core recording features are free. If paid services are introduced later, the relevant price, renewal, cancellation, and refund information will be shown before purchase.
8. Safety, Availability, and Data Loss
We work to keep RiftRec reliable, but no online service is guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copies of important recordings. We are not responsible for lost gameplay, lost files, missed recordings, corrupted recordings, or review-session interruptions except where the law says otherwise.
9. Disclaimers
RiftRec is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that every recording will work, that all match data will be accurate in every region, or that the service will fit every use case. Match history and lobby-related features may depend on region-specific League data availability.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RiftRec and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, lost profits, loss of rank, or loss of gameplay opportunities.
11. Contact
For support, billing, legal, privacy, or abuse questions, contact support@riftrec.app. Please include enough detail for us to route the request correctly.
